In a nutshell

Programme Sélune

Since 2012, scientists are enlisted on this dam dismantling project on the Sélune river. They are specialized in various domains such as geology, hydrology, chemistry, biology or human and social sciences.

So far, they focused on understanding the river characteristics under the dams’ influence. From 2020, research work will focus on understanding how the river works without the dams. Comparing these two phases, they will be able to characterize dismantling effects and therefore, potential ecological costs and profits linked to the return of a fluvial ecosystem.
