Collection of publications on the consequences of dam removal

A special issue of the journal Frontiers in Ecology and Evolution has just been published. It brings together 25 scientific articles dealing with the consequences of the removal of large dams on ecosystems.

The special issue of Frontiers is entitled ‘Large-scale dam removal and ecosystem restoration’. It was edited by Rebecca McCaffery, Jeffrey Duda, Laura Soissons and Jean-Marc Roussel. It brings together a wide range of scientific articles from long-term research projects on the removal of large dams (>10 m). The aim is to synthesise the issues, results, tools and experimental models used to study large dam removal projects from a physical, biological, ecological and socio-economic perspective.
