What data are we talking about?

The Sélune scientific programme has a reference system, composed of points. These points can be used by all program actors to more easily identify any location within the study area. The points are created along the rivers, with an approach "Point kilométrique" (every 100m, going from upstream to downstream). Each of these points has a unique code, corresponding to the association of the watercourse (designated by a short code) and the distance to the source or confluence.

Since 2025, each of these points has also been characterized by its position in the watershed (downstream, upstream, ...) in relation to the zone determined by the former dams and their reservoirs, as well as their distance from the sea in 2 forms (LTM: Limite Transversale à la mer / Transverse Sea Limit and LSE: Limite Salure des eaux / Water salinity limit).

The data made available in SISélune complies with INSPIRE and is based on the F.A.I.R. Data principles.

The related metadata

The paragraph below provides access to the metadata sheets written specifically for the IBD index data, the associated lists of flora and the chlorophyll-a and pheopigment concentrations for the Sélune observatory. These sheets describe the data proposed, the methods of acquisition, their temporality and spatial distribution.

1 metadata sheets describe this data:

View / Download data

1. Via metadata

Each metadata sheet provides download links to data in CSV, JSON and shapefile (SHP) formats.

2. Via the web mapping portal

The mapping portal, accessible via the url: https://geosas.fr/selune/#, presents these datasets in the "Contexte" theme and the "Repository of hydrographic points for the Sélune scientific program".

The"Repository of hydrographic points for the Sélune scientific program" layer displays all the points built for this reference system and their characteristics (position in the catchment area, distance from the sea, watercourse).

Once this layer is displayed, it is possible to consult the information specific to each station for the selected campaign, in particular :

  • the point code (based on the name of the watercourse),
  • the watercourse on which the point was built,
  • GPS coordinates of the point,
  • the position in the catchment area (downstream of the old dams, upstream of the area of influence of the old dams, in one of the two old reservoirs or on the tributaries flowing into the old reservoirs)

The details of a station also allow you to :

  • access a page on the website providing context for this scientific monitoring of the observatory,
  • Direct access to the metadata sheets associated with these datasets,
  • download data in CSV and JSON format (shapefile format only via the metadata sheets).

3. via the map server

The access urls for the Sélune IS data layers are as follows:
