What data are we talking about?

This article deals specifically with the integration into the SI Sélune information system of data associated with sea lamprey spawning grounds, the presence of which provides information on the dispersal of this species following the dismantling of the two dams.

Sea lamprey Petromyzon marinus spawning grounds are located as part of the Sélune Observatory. As this species is migratory, its colonization of the Sélune and its tributaries will probably be influenced by the removal of the Sélune dams. Monitoring is carried out at the end of June and beginning of July.

The data made available in SISélune complies with INSPIRE and is based on the F.A.I.R. Data principles.

The related metadata

The paragraph below provides access to the metadata sheet written specifically for sea lamprey spawning data. This sheet describes the data proposed, the acquisition methods, their temporality and spatialization.

One metadata sheets describe this data:

View / Download data

1. Via metadata

Each metadata sheet provides download links to data in CSV and JSON formats.

2. Via the web mapping portal

The mapping portal, accessible via the url: https://geosas.fr/selune/#, presents these datasets in the "Selune Observatory" theme and the "Lamprey" sub-theme.

The "Sea lamprey spawning grounds" layer displays all the spawning grounds visually identified by year, as well as the boundaries (upstream and downstream) of the surveyed areas (which may change from one year to the next, notably due to weather conditions and visibility in the water).

Once this layer is displayed, it is possible to consult the information specific to each spawning ground for the selected campaign, in particular :

  • GPS coordinates of the point,
  • the watercourse on which the point was built,
  • a spawning ground description

The details of a spawning ground also allow you to :

  • access a page on the website providing context for this scientific monitoring of the observatory,
  • Direct access to the metadata sheets associated with these datasets,
  • download data in CSV and JSON format (shapefile format only via the metadata sheets).

3. via the map server

The access urls for the Sélune IS data layers are as follows:
