Special issue - a collection of scientific articles on the monitoring of large dam removals

A special issue of the scientific journal "Frontiers in" is currently being prepared. It brings together several scientific articles on the impact of the removal of large dams and the restoration of ecosystems.

The special issue entitled "Large-scale dam removal and ecosystem restoration" aims to bring together a number of scientific articles studying the restoration of ecosystems and environments following the removal of large dams (>15 m). The studies presented are recent and come from scientific monitoring carried out on various rivers around the world. Among others, they include the case of the Selune in France and the Elwha River in the United States (Washington State).

This special issue is currently being prepared. The editorial team is made up of 4 scientists involved in this field: two American researchers involved in monitoring the restoration of the Elwha, and two French researchers in charge of coordinating the Sélune scientific programme. They are currently examining numerous studies to complete the collection of scientific articles. To date, seven articles have been included and others should follow soon.

All the articles in this special issue are available on the page dedicated to the special issue. They can all be consulted and downloaded free of charge by following the links on the page.
